THE family of a Grade 7 pupil who hanged himself on Saturday says they have lost a lovely and intelligent boy who was destined to be a professor.

The body of Anesu Mwakurudza, of Kuwadzana 5 Primary School, was found hanging off a bag which was on top of the wardrobe.

He was 12.

The second born, in a family of three boys, Anesu had just sat for his final Grade 7 exams.

He had been staying with his grandmother, Noma Mwakurudza, 66.

Gogo Noma described Anesu as a jovial, intelligent and innovative boy who was destined for greatness in his life.

“We lost a promising professor considering that he was too intelligent,” said Gogo Noma.

“He liked to experiment much with electrical gadgets, making things and always watching television to discover more.

“He used to play soccer and I ended up warning him over that as I wanted him to concentrate on reading books.

“He was also good in athletics.

“Ndamuudza kuti geza iye handina kuzomuwona ndazongonzwa akuridza music mumba maanorara.

“I was sitted outside when his younger brother came to inform me about his hanging.

“Monarch racho rakatakura zvaro zvinorema saka risinakudonha.”

Anesu’s parents are based in South Africa and were expected to arrive in the country yesterday.

His body was taken for a post-mortem at the Sally Mugabe Central Hospital mortuary.

The Kuwadzana community appealed for spiritual deliverance and counselling over the number of suicides involving young people.

“Kuwadzana yanyanya nyaya dzevana vechikoro varikufa rufu rwekuzvisungirira.

“We have had four cases so far within six months and this is so unbearable.

“We need divine intervention for deliverance as well as councillors to meet our children over this evil spirit,” said one of the residents.
