adminLast week, Tryson’s manager, Nyasha Mugari, came out guns blazing accusing Diamond Studios of failing to produce enough copies for distribution for Tryson’s latest album “Campus” that was supposed to coincide with Dr Nero Commemoration gig held on March 22.
“The album was due for release on March 22, but we failed because the recording company told us that they had no capacity to produce enough CDs for sale. The album is no longer in our hands. We are just waiting to hear from the recording company,” he was recently quoted as saying in the media
However, Diamond Studios boss Steady Munyanyi, who is based in the UK, refuted the claims insisting the dendera musician has never signed a contract with them.
“Tryson has been coming to Diamond Studios for the past four years to see our contract template and asking for a copy.
“On all the four occasions we gave him a copy of the contract, but he never at one time signed anything.
“On all these occasions he came with his manager Nyasha Mugari and they never at any given time signed anything with us.
“So you can imagine my shock when I read a story saying Tryson has not been able to release an album because we (Diamond) are taking long,” he said.
Munyanyi challenged Tryson and his manager to produce a copy of the contract for the benefit of the public, if such a document existed.
However, Mugari maintained that Tryson had signed a contract with Diamond.
“Of course, I don’t have the copy, I might have misplaced it, but Tryson told me that he signed a contract,” he said.
Diamond Studios is home to several musicians that include Suluman Chimbetu, Agatha Murudzwa, Romeo Gasa and fast-rising Douglas Chimbetu.
