WhaWha inmates left stranded after heavy winds blew off roofs

AT LEAST 100 prisoners were left stranded at WhaWha Prison after heavy winds blew off cell rooftops late yesterday.

Officer in Charge WhaWha Medium Prison Superintendent Tineyi Makeredza said the authorities have since moved the affected prisoners to some cells resulting in overcrowdedness.

He said WhaWha has a holding capacity of 1200 inmates but it already has 1460 inmates.
