Herald Reporter

The US$4,2 billion Karo Resources mining project has started following the commencement of the construction works of its various plants which are all at different stages.

Some of the equipment manufactured abroad in countries like China are currently being stored in warehouses in South Africa awaiting shipment to Zimbabwe with about 900 trucks required to ferry it.

Speaking after touring the ongoing progress at Karo Resources yesterday, Mines and Mining Development Deputy Minister Polite Kambamura said it was pleasing that the project was finally taking off.

“We are happy that finally things are happening,” he said.

Karo Resources country manager Dr Josphat Zimba said he was glad that the project had started despite the doubt that had been cast by some naysayers.
