MICHAEL Tarisai owner of Tarismik Trading donated first aid kit and a ball to the Wheelchair Basketball Zimbabwe (WBZ) yesterday.
Tarisai is another well wisher who has came on body to help WBZ, after aspiring Zanu-PF House Assembly candidate for Makokoba, Tshinga Dube donated $400 to the team last week.
WBZ has been appealing for sponsorship from donors as the association is struggling to raise funds and equipment to compete at a national level.
The women’s team is set to represent the country from 4-8 August in South Africa for the World Cup qualifiers.
They will compete with the hosts South Africa, Angola, Cameroon and Morocco.
Speaking after handing over the first aid kit yesterday, Tarisai praised WBZ for their efforts to represent the country even if they don’t have all the equipment deemed necessary.
“We specialise in first aid equipment so it was easy for me to help the basketball team when they appealed for help, I’m happy to assist. It is good to see the efforts and commitment from this association,” Tarisai said
Tarisai was inspired, as he is now motivated to start his own team to compete at a national level.
“Now I have developed an interested in sport, I’m planning to start my own team, which will compete at national level, as I want to keep supporting sport,” he said.
WBZ president and coach for the women’s team Walter Ndlovu praised the owner of Tariskmik Trading for the donation.
“We are very happy for the donation as we didn’t have a first aid kit,” said Ndlovu.
