Where did Caps United lose the plot against Zamalek?

Well yesterday we ran a survey, on Facebook, to get the thoughts of football fans who watched Makepekepe’s fall to Zamalek on television and here are some selected comments…

“You can’t sit back and defend for 90mins, you need to play the ball too and keep possession. For Caps United, they never played the ball before conceding the first goal. They looked as if their job is only to put the ball away. They should have taken the game to Zamalek too.” – Clemence Muchuweni

“In a game like this one you have to put away any half chances. Stage fright to me was our biggest let down. The goalkeeper should quickly make decisions; his lapse in concentration was a letdown. As a team we have to improve on our defence and strike force. It’s still game on.” – Tafadzwa Madovi

“We waited for them to come at us when we were capable enough to press them high enough for them to either make mistakes or crumble.” – Harold Mapiko

“Tactically, Caps fell short in all areas. Technically, they could not read the game at all. Why pump long balls upfront? Big reality check!” – Gondai Mazhuwa

“Caps United lost a battle not the war. They proved that they can compete at this level. They need an imposing and sharp striker upfront plus a solid holding midfielder.” – Alberto Gwenzi

“Stage fright affected our players but they seemed to have gained composure in the second half. Chitembwe’s tactics were spot on.” – Yusha Madi

“The team failed to keep possession, lost the ball unnecessarily. ZiKeeper was jittery. Plus panodiwa natural striker guys. Experience ishoma kuvakomana vachadziya havo as the tournament progresses.” – Albert Moyo

“Passing the ball around at this stage doesn’t pay. Transition from back to the attackers should be quick. We don’t have that talent capable of dribbling so counter attack is the only solution.” – Sunday Mavodyo
