Last week, there was a record Lotto jackpot draw of about $340 000 and by the time of going to print, the winner was yet to come forward to make his or her claim, The Sunday Mail Extra can reveal. The sole winning entry with 6 correct figures – 7, 9, 14, 20, 27, and 29 – is the first to win such an amount in the country’s history of lottery and gaming.

The winning ticket was played at the MTC Lotto ticket office in Harare Street, Harare. On Friday, an official with Lotto Zimbabwe confirmed that the winner was yet to come forward, adding that it’s not the first time that a winner has taken time to come forward with a winning ticket.

According to a Facebook post by Lotto Zimbabwe, a winner is given 21 days to claim his or her prize from the office where they played and up to 90 days to claim from Lotto’s head office, after which the organising committee decides the fate of the money.

It can either be donated to charity or added up to the Lotto prize.
Lotto has urged those who entered the draw to re-check their tickets. They are also making efforts to find the winner through social media.
“Someone, somewhere is sitting on a fortune! Check your tickets Zimbabwe, you could be the all-time biggest jackpot winner in the country! $350,000 could be in your hands right now,” reads a post on Lotto Zimbabwe’s Facebook page.
