White ankle-boots . . . ‘not so trendy yet so essential!’

Craig Twist Fashion Correspondent

We definitely cannot talk about fashion and not talk about how our own Ishmael Tsakatsa of the local popular Zargue’sia fashion house who blew up Paris Fashion Week recently with his latest collection.

The talented designer managed to put the country on the map as he showcased from cooperate to glamour wear.

Okay! Paris Fashion Week (PFW) is a globally recognized presentation of officially known clothing designs as well as emerging fashion brands held in France for at least a week in order to exhaust all the design collections to be presented. As much as this fashion week is mostly motivated by big brands, it’s also a ground for emerging fashion brands to showcase their collections as well as to grow their market.

Like in every other industry, there has a vast move to bring African fashion aspect to the lime light. It seems, our own Zimbabwean Ishmael Tsakatsa did not hesitate but grabbed this opportunity to introduce his clothing brand ‘Zargue’sia’ to the world.

Themed under ‘Stones of Fire’, Zargue’sia brought us a mile closer to the future blended with a bit of antique and was seasoned with some shades of spring; a brown-orange-ish taste and we love to see it. His fabric selection, pattern making as well as the colour combination was a classic definition of a man whose love for fashion is sewn into the fabrics of his skin. An applause for the man and his team for the job well done and for lifting the flag up high, he will forever be appreciated as the man who defied all odds.

On that note, we will merge into today’s fashion tip: White ankle-boots!!

I know you are probably wondering who wears white boots except Madonna and/or Lady Gaga? Well, white ankle-boots may not be as trendy but they are a definite essential and MUST HAVE for every lady who considers herself stylish.

What are ankle boots?

This is a pair of boots that cut just a little above your ankle giving your whole leg some room to shine. Usually they are block heeled, though sometimes can be pencilled to suit the style of the designer. They can come zipped on the inner side or come with any other style, however the zipped ones are much more preferred as it makes it easy to put them on and off.

Why white?

We all have boots somewhere in our shoe rack, that’s normal. With white boots however, the main appeal is that they are a little unexpected, which makes it feel more fashion forward. Despite this, white is a neutral colour so it will pretty much pair with anything and everything in your wardrobe.

How to style whit ankle-boots…

Our previous style tip was about Boyfriend Blazers. Ankle-boots and boyfriend blazers paired with the ‘70s denim trend are the perfect combination for warmer days.

Pairing them up with some jagged boyfriend jeans and a checked oversized blazer will air some cool chilled breeze. This look can still be rocked with a pair of shorts and a band-aid cinched around the chest serving us even more skin and some of those elongated legs.

If ever there was a recipe for dressing up while dressing down, the list of ingredients would definitely include white ankle boots with a casual day dress. This pairing gives a relaxed yet classic kind of vibe especially for a chilled lunch date with a friend. You can throw in a cropped leather jacket (matching with the dress or plain black) for an evening atmosphere.

We saw pleated skirts buzzing over internet sometime last year and some of the best styled pleated skirts were paired with some white pencilled ankle-boots and the look was dazzling. Initially, when styled with a polo neck, pleats are effortlessly breezy yet still carry a bit of structure, which then adds sophistication, which means you can easily get away with wearing your white boots to the office and we’ll know you mean serious business.

You can never go wrong pairing up white ankle boots with leggings, you’ll definitely look put together but feeling very comfortable all day. You can even make this look more trifecta by putting on a long overcoat. It’s a laid-back look, but still brings about amounts of elegance.

Recently, we had our favourite Pastor and a life coach, Sarah Jakes embracing some weekend energy in a bright& cheery dress paired with some white ankle-boots serving us some springy kind of vibe.

So trust me when I say this, the only challenge you may have with white ankle-boots is choosing which outfit to pair them up with. White ankle-boots are the future yet still continue to breathe out that antique breeze. Don’t let anybody stop you from getting a pair of this cool investment.
