White set for Arsenal medical

LONDON Ben White will undergo a medical ahead of a proposed £50million transfer to English Premiership football club Arsenal this week as the Gunners continue their summer recruitment drive.

White, the Brighton defender, impressed in the English Premier League last season before being drafted into Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2020 squad.

Arsenal saw two bids of £40m and £47m knocked back by the Seagulls before finally agreeing a £50m fee, with Brighton also inserting a sell-on clause.

And he is set to undergo his medical tomorrow, according to Sky Sports.

The 23-year-old was selected by Gareth Southgate for England’s Euro 2020 campaign and played in the two warm-up games against Austria and Romania prior to the start of the tournament. White also contributed to Brighton having the joint-best defence in the bottom half of the English Premier League last season with 46 goals conceded.

The England international defender joined the Seagulls in 2014 from Southampton and has gone on to make 41 appearances for the club in all competitions. Metro
