WHY are his concerts free?
That is the question many have been asking as gospel star Takesure Zamar continues to draw huge crowds without charging a cent.
Now the worship minister has broken his silence, saying free gigs are about giving ordinary Zimbabweans access to God without money standing in the way.
Zamar says many people love gospel music and worship gatherings but simply cannot afford ticket prices in the current economy.
“The majority of Zimbabweans cannot afford to go to concerts. It is not like they do not want to support concerts, but many cannot afford.
“So, shall we then say those who cannot afford are not allowed to meet with God?
“Surely, we have been given freely what we have. We did not buy these gifts and therefore we try and find a way of giving back to the church and minister to God’s people.”
On Sunday, Zamar and his Worship Addicts movement will host another massive free prayer and worship event.
This time the gathering has gone a level higher, with Nigerian gospel sensation, GUC, set to headline alongside local favourites Blessing Jeduthun, Nyasha Mutonhori and Yosef Gurupira, among others.
For many fans, the free show has become one of the most anticipated gospel gatherings of the year, with thousands expected to throng the gardens for a day of praise, prayer and unity.
Zamar said Worship Addicts is not about fame or business but revival.
“Worship Addicts is a revival movement that seeks to encourage the body of Jesus Christ, the church, to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth and to encourage saints to pray.
“We just want to gather and worship and pray without any other agendas.
“We want to encourage as many other people to pray for the church and the nation. The Bible says if my people, who are called by my name humble themselves and seek my face, then I will hear their cry and heal their land.
“That is what we are pushing.”
Since launching in 2024, Worship Addicts has become a crowd-puller, proving that free events can still attract quality production, big artists and national attention.
But many still wonder who pays the bills.
With sound systems, stage setup, security and transport costs, such events do not come cheap.
Zamar revealed that believers and supporters have stepped in to keep the vision alive.
“A few saints and well-wishers who are able to see where the vision is going have come up to support and stand with us,” he said.
The singer also believes the concerts are doing something bigger — bringing churches and musicians together.
“The Bible also declares that when the musicians and instrumentalists were as one to make one sound in praising the Lord, the cloud of God’s presence filled the house,” he said.
“I strongly believe that this will ignite a revival in the body of Christ and in the nation when musicians are coming together from different churches just to come together and have one sound.”
Sunday’s event is historic for another reason — it is the first time an international artist has joined the free platform.
The arrival of GUC has sent excitement levels soaring, with many worshippers eager to witness the hitmaker live in Harare.
