TWO Chigodora men who would occasionally get their best friend drunk and get intimate with his wife while he slept on the same bed have been fined by a traditional court.
The two men, Joshua Chabodo and Freddy Mwatutsa were fined two goats each by Village Head Chikara before the matter was transferred to Acting Chief Zimunya’s court where they are expected to get another hefty fine.
The two pleaded guilty to bedding Rutendo Gopito (22) with her drunk husband Isaac Gopito laying in the same bed.
Scores of Chigodora villagers who gathered at Village Head Chikara’s court on Sunday bayed for the two men’s blood and demanded instant justice, thereby causing chaos.
The mob attempted to assault the two men as they demanded that they appease their lover’s husband instantly.
Freddy who had previously denied that he was intimate with Rutendo changed goal posts when he was brought before the court and confessed that he did sleep with her.
He fell to the ground and shouted: “I pray that you all forgive me but I did sleep with this woman. We were having an affair and I would pay her with crops from my garden.”
He, however, refused to explain further.
“I cannot get into detail because my wife and my in-laws are present but the truth of the matter is that I was intimate with Rutendo,” he said.
This infuriated the mob as they believed that he had a lot to tell them.
Village Head Chikara later transferred the matter to Acting Chief Zimunya’s court citing jurisdiction.
“The matter is no longer in my hands. I have already transferred it to Acting Chief Zimunya’s court where both men will be heftily fined. They will also be ordered to appease their friend as they slept with his wife,” he said.
In an interview, Rutendo said Joshua would get Isaac drunk before escorting him home.
With her drunk husband in a deep sleep, Rutendo would then become intimate with Joshua on the same bed that her husband was sleeping on.
“I was a very faithful wife to my husband until Joshua showed me pornographic material on his phone. Joshua would buy Isaac a lot of beer to get him drunk. He would escort him home and since Isaac would be drunk and unaware of what would be happening, I would become intimate with Joshua in the same room and the same bed,” she said.
The affair went on for a month until Isaac’s relatives caught them red-handed.
The Gopito family saw Joshua leaving Rutendo and Isaac’s bedroom early one morning and checked if Isaac was in.
That is when all hell broke loose.
They demanded to know the truth, but Rutendo would not budge.
She insisted that Joshua had come around to see Isaac who was suffering from a hang-over.
Isaac’s sister, Jennifer Gopito-Chinzvende said Rutendo only confessed after they assaulted her.
“She did not only confess to cheating on my brother with Joshua, but with another man, Freddy Mwatutsa. While she slept with Joshua in the same room with my brother, with Freddy they would get intimate in the bushes.
“My brother did not know about this and had it not been for us, she would still be cheating on him. He would still be trusting both Rutendo and his friends,” said Jennifer.
Isaac’s mother, Margaret Mhlanga said while it is true that Isaac would be intoxicated when the two lovebirds got intimate on his bed, it is also important to note that he is partially deaf.
