STEVEN KAITANO, a well-known barber and actor based in Budiriro, has ventured into music with a new album titled “Tora Rudo”.
The 28-year-old singer says the new album, produced by his young brother James Kaitano aka Kim Keys, will be out anytime soon. The album features a song called “Nherera” which promises to be a hit.
“There are plans to officially launch the album once I raise enough money from the sale of the CDs,” he said.
Besides the new album, the multi-talented Kaitano also features in a film called “Bamunini Danzel”.

He ventured into music in 2003 after releasing gospel mix tapes before he changed to reggae which he says was more popular with his fans.
“I started my music career in 2003 and since then I have matured and my sound identifies with the ghetto youths.

“As time went on I realised most youths were not into gospel music so I shifted my focus to concentrate on reggae,” he said.
Kaitano says he was inspired by Jah Prayzah, who also produces some of his music.

He has also worked with a number of artistes in Budiriro including the likes of “Culture Benz” with whom he collaborated with on the title track “Tora Rudo”.

“It is not easy to make a breakthrough in music and as upcoming artistes we go that extra mile to promote our music. Once your music gets played on radio he are assured music promoters will come your way. That is what I am doing at the moment, selling my CDs as well as the film,” he said.

The artiste said acting was not his priority but a stepping stone to bigger things. Kaitano is also appealing for assistance from promoters to boost his career.
