VIOLENCE towards her husband saw a Buhera woman being barred from visiting him in Mutare. Sinikiwe Tembani had been dragged to the Mutare Civil Courts by her husband, James Makarani, who claimed that she was violent towards him whenever she visited his Dangamvura residence.
Presiding over the matter was Mutare magistrate, Ms Anniah Ndiraya.
“You are barred from visiting his Dangamvura house because you have admitted that you have been violent towards him whenever you visit his city house,” said Ms Ndiraya.
“Your Worship, I have had enough of this woman. We parted ways in May 2015 and she then went to my rural areas in Buhera without my consent and built a house. Ever since, she has been living there even though I divorced her.
“However, whenever she comes to Mutare, she usually come to my Dangamvura house and fights me, getting to the extent of even tearing off my clothes. At one time, she even used a brick to stone me and I had to wake up at the hospital.
“The truth is that she can’t accept the fact that I no longer love her. I pray that the court bars her from visiting my city house because she abuses my parents and first wife. Tembani is a thorn in the flesh Your Worship,” said Makarani.
Responding to her husband’s allegations, Tembani insisted to the court that she was still married to Makarani.
“Your Worship, Makarani is my husband and I have every right to visit his Dangamvura residence. Why should I be the only wife who stays in the rural areas?
“I was a rich woman when he met me because I was self employed and now that he has used me and my money together with his first wife he now wants to dumb me just like that.
“That will not happen, I have to visit him,” she insisted.
Ms Ndiraya, however, granted the protection order which bars Tembani from visiting Makarani’s Dangamvura residence.
Tembani was ordered not to interfere with Makarani’s peace as that would warrant her arrest.
