Wife basher fined

A MBERENGWA man has been fined $50 for assaulting his sick wife who had reportedly denied him sex. Brighton Musiningira (25) appeared before Mberengwa resident magistrate Mrs Evia Matura facing one count of domestic violence. Musiningira was convicted on his own plea of guilty.

He was fined $50 and in default 30 days in prison. Agreed facts are that on November 25 at around 11 pm, Musiningira returned home from a beer drink when he found his wife, Ms Constance Hove, already in bed. Musiningira awakened his wife and demanded sex.

Ms Hove told Musiningira that she was not comfortable having sex as she was not feeling well. Musiningira was angered by his wife’s response and immediately charged towards her. He assaulted her.

Ms Hove managed to escape and went to seek refuge at their neighbour’s home. She sustained serious injuries on the face, left eye and bruises all over the body as a result of the assault.
