A HARARE woman bit off her husband’s ear and thumb after he defecated in their bedroom following a row between the couple.
Alice Njorota told Harare Civil Court magistrate, Johanna Mkwesha, that her husband, Arthur Mwedzi, has been abusing her, her mother and relatives.
She said Mwedzi’s behaviour often leads to heated arguments and he insults her in front of their children.
Njorota said Mwedzi also tells their children that he is not their father.
“Each time I ask for money to buy groceries he defecates in the house in protest, he doesn’t want to provide for his family.
“He insults and assaults me any time he wants, we are always arguing in the house.
“I want the court’s protection so that he can be banned from assaulting and insulting me,” she said.
Mwedzi said his wife was the one who was abusing him.
“I am the one who suffers the most harassment from this woman, she is in the habit of accusing me of everything.
“Last week, she bit off my ear and thumb,” said Mwedzi as he showed the court his wounds.
In her ruling, magistrate Johanna Mukwesha granted a reciprocal protection order between the couple before urging them to seek counselling and maintain peace all the time.
