A 36-year-old woman from Gweru dragged her husband to court for denying her sex, subjecting her to physical and verbal abuse.
Alerta Msino (36) dragged her husband Nowell Msino (42) to the Gweru Civil Court Magistrate Vimbai Makora.
Alerta told the court that her husband is no longer interested in having sexual intercourse with her. She said she gets beaten each time she solicits for sex from her hubby.
“Since 2017, my husband is no longer interested in making love to me. Each time l ask for sex he beats me up saying I’m not good in bed compared to his ex-lovers. He says all his ex-lovers were good in bed and it hurts me. Sometimes he says he cannot have sex because of his high blood pressure,” she said.
She told the court that sometimes her husband calls her a prostitute.
“Sometimes he says l am a prostitute that’s why l like sex. But the truth is just like any other married person, l expect us to make love,” she said.
In his defence, Nowell told the court that he loves his wife but he was angered by the fact that he found pornographic material on her phone.
“I love her but I stumbled upon pornography in her phone sometime back and l believe a married woman mustn’t watch such videos. The other issue is that she refused to stop taking family planning pills. I told her to stop preventing because l want us to have our second child but she says she is not ready to have more children,” he said.
Magistrate Makora ordered Nowell to stop insulting his wife and to fulfil his conjugal duties. She said the couple should consider seeking counselling services from a counsellor or from pastors.
