A Mabvuku woman took her husband and his lover to the Harare Civil Court seeking a protection order against them.

Sesedzai Maunga accused her husband’s girlfriend, Dambudzo Nyakusengwa, of constantly threatening and insulting her.

She also accused her husband, Togarepi Maunga, of physical and verbal abuse.

“She calls insulting me, saying she is my husband’s girlfriend and that she is having a good time with him.

“She insults me using obscene language and also threatens to make me disappear,” said Sesedzai.

Dambudzo laughed as she opposed the application.

“I do not call her, but she is the one who visits my place of residence to insult me, saying I killed my husband so that I could snatch her husband.

“The first time she came to my place, she asked to use the toilet,” Dambudzo said.

In the application against her husband, Sesedzai told the court that Togarepi assaults her and then he goes first to the police and reports fabricated stories about her.

“Every time he comes home, he insults and assaults me and he then goes to the police station before me to report lies.

“I am tired of being abused and getting arrested every time because he reports lies to the police,” she said.

Togarepi said he is the one who needs the order against his wife because he is the one being abused.

“She is the one who assaults me. The last time she assaulted me, I went to Mabvuku Police Station with my t-shirt soaked in blood. She disrespects me,” he said.

Magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted both protection order applications to Sesedzai and warned Togarepi against assaulting or insulting his wife.
