Wife gives hubby poison-laced food

A Harare man claimed he survived miraculously after his wife served him with food laced with poison on three different occasions. Gideon Nenguwo told a Harare Civil Court magistrate that Talent Nenguwo did this in a bid to kill him, but failed. Gideon was seeking a protection order against Talent whom he accused of verbally and emotionally abusing him.

“I am lucky to be here because my wife served me food laced with poison on three different occasions, but I survived,” he said. Gideon told magistrate Mrs Babra Mateko that he left his home because of Talent’s violent behaviour. “I am currently staying with my aunt and she has the guts to follow me there to insult me and my aunt for no clear reasons,” Nenguwo said.

Talent denied the allegations levelled against her by Gideon, but said she was not opposed to his application. “I did not verbally abuse him as he is alleging, but still I am not opposed to his application, because I am not breaching his peace in any way,” she said. Mrs Mateko granted the order by consent, which barred Talent from verbally or physically abusing Gideon.
