Ruzave, it is alleged, waited for her husband to fall sleep, before going to the kitchen to fill a pot with water and heating it on the stove.
Once boiled, she carried the pot into the bedroom and tipped it onto her a?selfisha? husband. As if that was not enough she also attempted to stab him with a kitchen knife.
Ruzaveas case was heard at the Bulawayo Civil Court where her husband applied for a restraining order.
Ncube accused his wife of harassing him saying she was always forcing him to have sex with her.
a?I am customarily married to Clara Ruzave and we have three children together. Problems in our marriage started last year in March when I discovered that she was selling pornography. When I confronted her she became angry and burnt me with hot water before she also tried to stab me with a kitchen knife.
a?On 3 April 2016 she left, took everything and left our matrimonial home. She, however, came back on 20 January and started forcing me to have sex with her and I refused. She also courted my anger when I found condoms in her handbag, a sign that she was sleeping around when she deserted me,a? said Ncube.
He further said he was now living in fear after his wife threatened to burn down their house if he continued starving her. He asked the court to bar her from coming to his church because she was also threatening people there.
The name of his church was not, however, mentioned in court.
In defence, Ruzave said her actions were in revenge against her husband for sexually frustrating her.
a?My husband has a tendency of going out without telling me where he is going. When he came back he would wash his manhood in the bucket and in my presence while bragging he is being satisfied from where he would be coming from.
a?When I deserted our matrimonial he was the one who had chased me out. I love my husband but he is frustrating me with his extra-marital affairs,a? said Ruzave.
She, however, disputed allegations that she was forcing herself on him because,A a?itas impossible for women to force themselves on mena?.
When the presiding magistrate Sheunesu Matova asked her whether it was true that she was found in possession of condoms in her handbag, Ruzave left the court in stitches when she unashamedly said: a?Ichokwadi nokuti zviripovo pakudya kwedu mambo,a? meaning a?itas true because condoms are also part of our food.a?
In his judgment the magistrate, ordered the two parties to keep peace in their marriage by not insulting, assaulting, threatening and conducting themselves in any violent manner towards each other.
