A Harare man is at loggerheads with his wife, whom he accused of removing their wedding ring each time she goes out, the Civil Court heard yesterday. Richard Jonasi claimed his wife Revai Jonasi, was also denying him conjugal rights.

However, Richard was arraigned before the court by Revai who was seeking a protection order against him.

“She is my wife but she has the guts to bring condoms in my house asking me to wear them each time I request for my conjugal rights,” he said.

Richard told the court that he loved his wife, but she was treating him unfairly.

Revai had submitted that Richard was in the habit of physically and verbally abusing her over conjugal rights.

“I decided to bring condoms home after discovering that he had secretly impregnated his two girlfriends.”

Revai told magistrate Mr Trevor Nyatsanza that Richard was breaching her peace.

“I need protection from this honourable court against this man because I am sick and tired of being abused over conjugal rights,” she said.

Revai said she only removed the wedding ring once when she took it to her brother so that it could be polished since it was rusting.

Mr Nyatsanza granted the order in Revai’s favour that barred Richard from physically or verbally abusing her.

He also ordered Richard to keep peace towards Revai at all times.
