SOME motorists, who have been endangering other road users during peak hours, by recklessly encroaching into oncoming traffic lanes, face arrest.
Police yesterday promised to act on evidence gathered by H-Metro in our small initiative to fight against this madness.
They promised that those who we caught violating the law will face the music.
Commuter omnibus drivers and private vehicles encroached into oncoming traffic lanes in Bulawayo Road between Belvedere West and Warren Park suburbs.
H-Metro recorded a video of a number of kombis and private vehicles driving on the wrong lane, facing oncoming traffic, between 7am and 8am.
One driver told H-Metro that a number of kombi drivers had been endangering other motorists, and passengers, just to make a quick buck.
“We are appealing for stiffer penalties for road traffic offenders,” said the motorist.
“Some drivers are now endangering other road users and pedestrians.
“If this reckless driving is allowed to go on, a number of lives will be lost.
“All these reckless drivers must be brought to book and face the wrath of the law,” she said.
Traffic police are visible on Seke Road between Arcadia and the flyover where similar reckless driving has been noted.
