MARK Williams continued with his fine form as he managed to make the cut in the Sunshine Golf Tour at the Vaal de Grace Golf Estate in Free State, South Africa, over the weekend. The South Africa-based Zimbabwean was the only local golfer who managed to make the cut after three rounds of the Vodacom Origins of Golf presented by Samsung.
Williams took to the field together with Ryan Cairns, Greg Bentley and Farai Chitengwa who failed to make it.
Williams had rounds of 71, 69 and 70 to finish tied in 30th place together with Calvin Calderia, JC Ritchie, Francois Coetze, Toto Thimba, Pieter Moolman and Rourke van der Spuy.
Williams pocketed R5.566 and recorded his 12th cut of the season in 19 attempts.
A good second round of 69 was all Williams needed to see himself on the top half of the leader board. Veteran South African Jean Hugo won the event at 21-under par after impressive rounds of 65, 66 and 64.
In the Big Easy Tour’s Championship event at The Els Club, Copperleaf in Centurion, South Africa, Stephen Ferreira was in a two-way tie for the lead after yesterday’s opening round.
