Williams on verge of making cut

MARK Williams could push his way into the final action of the Sunshine Tour’s Vodacom Origins of Golf at the Arabella Country Club in South Africa. The top professional was tied in 14th place after yesterday’s opening round in which he carded a one-under 71. Williams had counterpart Greg Bentley in the event and he had a good first round with six pars before a bogey on the seventh hole.He quickly recovered with birdies in the last two holes.

Going into the break on one-under par, the Zimbabwean hit five pars before a birdie but he then dropped a shot on the 17th.

Bentley had a bad day in office after carding an eight-over 80.
