Wilson Mutekede joins Mbabane Citizens

WHEN the MTN National First Division of Swaziland resumes in the new year, a new all Zimbabwe coaches duel awaits soccer fans with Saul Chaminukaa��s Matsapha United taking on the Mbabane Citizens who had it all clear to appoint Wilson Mutekede as their new coach.

The former Gunners, Highfield, Twalumba and Starbill assistant coach was due to take charge of Citizens training session on Wednesday having arrived in Swaziland early this week and his first match will be a tricky league match against the log leaders.

A source close to the team confided on Tuesday.

a�?Wilson Mutekede has joined Mbabane Citizens, as we speak they were waiting for team director to sign the appointment papers. He will start drilling the team tomorrow (Wednesday),a�? revealed the source.

If Saul Chaminuka doesna��t travel to Gabon for the Africa Cup of Nations finals, it will be the battle of Zimbo coaches.

The last time the two teams met in Mbabane, Matsapha United narrowly escaped 4-3 victors with late drama that almost saw Citizens force a draw.

Citizens will have to wait until mid January for action after being knocked out of the SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup by Red Lions last weekend, with a two week long festive break and New Year weekend last 16 ties.

Also arriving in the mountainous kingdom were former Border Strikers duo Kuda Kode Sibanda and Ephraim Mwinga for trials at MTN Premier League of Swaziland popular outfit Manzini Wanderers who are under Julius Chakupewa.

Chakupewa confirmed the arrival of the two players, who could be replacements for two mid season transfer window period departures one of them Frank Mukarati who could re-unite with Chaminuka at Matsapha United.

a�?Yes, the two players arrived in the country on Monday and we will be assessing them but at the moment I cannot say much,a�? said Chakupewa.

Meanwhile, all Zimbabweans sailed through the first round of the SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup successfully with high scoring wins. Chaminuka was the first off the block with a 5-0 win over Luyengo Foxes on a rain drenched Friday night at Somhlolo National Stadium.

Hebert Maruwaa��s Green Mamba were the highest scorers of the round of matches with a 7-0 win over Black Aces while Mbabane Highlanders under Tarisai Changara thumped Ludzeludze Brothers 4-0.

Wanderers home to Chakupewa, Mukarati and Tafadzwa Jaravanhi beat Sibovini 5-1 with Hloniphani Ndebelea��s Midas City beating Rangers 4-1 while Talent Maphosaa��s Mbabane Swallows thrashed Hub Sundowns 5-0.
