THE definition of a gaffer tells of one who takes charge in a certain field and riding on that wave is The Bigman, Winky D who has released visuals for his song, Happy Again.
The song released yesterday is trending on YouTube with 140 000 views by afternoon on the video sharing platform.
The release comes eight days after Winky D dropped visuals for Rudo Harurove (Love Shouldn’t Hurt).
The song was recorded, mixed and mastered by Oskid who also produced Winky D’s Gafa Life album in 2015. The instrumental was done by Oskid and Winky D’s little brother Layaan Soljah.
The retro-look video shot in a foreign land was directed by Shawn Ray of Rec Button media in association with Universal Nation.
It features a host of international acts including Jennifer Brough, Kirsten, Marie Gouws and King Lloyd among others and tells a story of love, one that is not powered by financial pedigree.
Winky D pours out his heart to his lover in the song when he sings, “The silver and gold is meant for the world. The love that I hold is meant for your soul.”
A lot of people took to YouTube to air their views on the new video.
Russel Marvin Magweva endorsed the creativity exhibited in the video. “The creativity, the visuals, the content — unmatched. The only bad thing about this song is that it ends. The creativity of this production is beyond world class. Well done Winky D.”
One Tah Mut said, “The only thing that the gaffa doesn’t know is to disappoint, now I understand why some of our fellow brothers don’t like him. His music is deep, it can only be understood by those that are willing to go that deep with him or those that are already there. Well done sir.”
Amidst all the plaudits showered on the Gafa, there were a few who showed their dissatisfaction.
One such person is Princess_Prie who wrote, “Good song for weddings but not for partying. It’s December for crying out loud. Where did the Gaffa go? I was expecting something with the X-factor. Is he falling or has fallen already?”
The last time Winky D dropped a project in December was last year with his Ragga Musambo trilogy. Some of the videos that the Gaffa released in the past include Mugarden that featured Gemma Griffiths and Rugare featuring Buffalo Souljah. – @eMKlass_49
