NINJA PRESIDENT, Wallace “Winky D” Chirumiko, has proved to be worth the mettle in the dancehall world though showcasing versatility on a new single track titled “Sungura Like”. The track was officially released last week Thursday and first played on Zi-Judgment Yard on ZiFM Stereo.
It preaches the importance of oneness in music irrespective of genre.
This comes in the wake of a barrage of criticism denouncing Zimdancehall music as void of local relevance.

The track also teaches importance of African culture and creating culturally acceptable content rather than imitating international music without due consideration of our morals and ethics as Zimbabweans or Africans.
Winky D’s manager, Jonathan Banda said music is a universal language and in the country dancehall music has faced a lot of criticism with even big artistes shunning it.
“Music is a universal language and dancehall in the country has faced a lot of misjudgement with most of the people shunning it due to its composition, message and moral elements.
“But we are here to prove that there are still some upright elements since most of us are abiding by the morals and values to educate those prejudicing them,” he said.
Commenting on the single track, Banda said they did it with a local flavour to match what people are saying in comparing the two genres.
“If people are saying sungura remains the local music, we have fused them so that dancehall can still remain appealing to all and that it has the acoustic guitar that is so much loved by many,” said Banda.“It must stick into everyone’s mind that not every artist singing dancehall has an international orientation.
