“For the past two years the event has been playing host to up and coming local groups, but this year we decided to invite popular names like of Suluman Chimbetu and Winky D.
“Obviously, we anticipate more people and this year we have a massive line-up of performing artistes,” Untali Saidi, founder and chairman of the festival, said.
The theme for the festival is “Prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV”.
In line with the theme, there will be HIV and Aids workshops on the sidelines of the one-day festival aimed at imparting knowledge to the youths.
“We want to encourage men to take the initiative to get tested together with their wives.
“Previously, it used to be the responsibility of pregnant women to get tested without the men, but that has since changed,” Saidi said.
He said the festival was also meant to expose up-and-coming talent from the Mashonaland Central provincial capital.
“The festival has always been a platform for youths to showcase themselves.
“We are going to witness some of the amazing performances by local acts as well as established artistes.
“A number of performances will highlight the importance of our theme.
“However, we are still limited in terms of disciplines that will be performed and we are aware that some people wanted us to stage a beauty pageant, but we have decided to hold it next time,” he said.
Popular dancehall act Winky D and his Vigilance Band are set to illuminate Chipadze Stadium with their high energy performances.
Winky D, or simply the Ninja President to his adoring fans, will be fired up for the show.
Man of the moment Suluman is expected to rock the crowd with his his blockbuster “Sean Timba” and “Nhambarakishoni”.
Other performances will feature Bindura’s finest among them Patso and Rhythm Africa, Nice Time, Swerengoma Arts Production, Almaxton and dancehall chanter Caveman.
