NINJA president, Wallace “Winky D” Chirimuko pitched up late for the Campus Night show at Hartsfield grounds on Saturday but paid for the delays by an incredible performance. Fans had to wait patiently for his arrival and others had almost lost hope following rumours that he was no longer coming.
Jah Prayzah opened the gig with another unbelievable performance which confirmed him as a top artiste. He gave a performance loaded with good vocals, perfect dance routines and good organisation of instruments setting the bar high for those that came after him.
Dressed in camouflage, “the Dreadlocks Soldier” had fans on their feet with his songs, Tsviriyo, Cecilia and Ngwarira Kuparara, among other.
After his entertaining performance, fans had to endure a boring session when Djembe Monks took to stage. The house outfit tried their best to entertain fans but their act lacked originality and several fans opted to walk out or sit on the stands.
DJ Nospa, given a huge task of saving the show from blushes, did not disappoint as Winky was nowhere to be found.
He kept fans entertained for almost two hours waiting the arrival of Winky.
The Ninja president finally arrived and gave a good account of himself.
The atmosphere at the show changed drastically when he got on stage as everyone came close to the stage to get a close look at him.
Even those on wheelchairs and using crutches could not be left behind. When he saw a man dancing and jumping with crushes, The Ninja president smiled in amazement and said it was his lyrics that were healing the crippled.
“People think it is only Makandiwa who has the power for miracle healing but today the Ninja president has made these guys walk, said a fan identied as Tafadzwa.
Backed by his brother, Trevor “Layan Soldier” Chirimuko and the Vigilance band, “the Ghetto Elder,” as he sometimes calls himself, showed why he is ranked as the best reggae and dancehall artiste in the country.
Fans were treated to a highly energetic performance and entertaining lyrics to which they responded as they joined him in jumping and singing to almost all of his songs.
The Ninja president boasted of a huge following in Bulawayo.
“Maiti vanhu vekuBulawayo havasi maNinja, listen to dem sing dis tune,” he said.
