MORE than 2 000 congregants thronged the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo this weekend for the Jehovah’s Witnesses Regional Convention, which is running under the theme “Pure Worship.”
The gathering, which kicked off on Friday, is part of a series of conventions being held across the Matabeleland region.
Simultaneous events are underway in Hwange and Binga, while Beitbridge has already hosted its convention exclusively in Venda.

Upcoming conventions will be held in Gwanda and two more in Bulawayo, dedicated entirely to Ndebele speakers.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, regional spokesperson. Witness Gama said this year’s theme focuses on living a Christlike life.
“We are happy that today more than 2 000 people are gathered here, benefitting from this regional convention,” said Gama.
“The aim is to encourage responsible citizenship, good behavior, and respect for leaders and authority.
Jesus Christ is our role model, and through this convention, we aim to equip people to live lives that please God.”
Mr Gama highlighted that one of the major attractions of this year’s event is the use of modern technology to enhance worship.

“We are showcasing videos that bring to life the teachings of Jesus Christ, making them easier to understand and apply in daily life,” he said.
In addition to the physical gathering, the church has embraced digital platforms to reach a wider audience. About 65 people are currently following the proceedings via live stream.

Jehovah’s Witnesses hold three conventions annually. The final gathering of the year is set for the end of November in Bulawayo.

The event continues today with more teachings, video presentations, and sessions aimed at helping individuals and families apply biblical principles in their daily lives.
