Witnesses of Jesus release debut album

promising groups, Witnesses of Jesus.
The eight-track album, titled “Hakuna Rimwe Zita”, comes as a refreshing breath of air in an industry where a plethora of artistes or groups have nothing new and appealing to offer to listeners but the same old recycled beats.

Led by Mashoko Gamanya, the nine-member outfit – that is a product of Zvapupu ZvaJesu Apostolic Church led by Bishop Totela Mtotela – has also defied the norm by becoming one of the few apostolic groups in the country that plays musical instruments like guitars and keyboards.

“We used to sing in the church choir and the songs and talent were there but our biggest challenge was lack of finance.
“It was only after a well-wisher, Lovemore Nyagato, came to our rescue by financing the recording of this album at MJ Studio based in Zengeza 2, Chitungwiza, that we finally realised our dream,” Gamanya said.

The opening track, “Neriya Zuva” talks about the final day of judgement and further reminds people to prepare for the big day or face the wrath of the fires of hell.
In “Munochemei?” the group sings about how Jesus Christ is a shoulder to lean on while a similar message is propagated in the track, “Hakuna Rimwe Zita”.

The song talks about how there is no other name that should be exalted except that of God the Creator.
A person finally realises his evil ways and decides to turn to God by confessing, in the song “Kuipa Kwangu”.
“Nguva NdeyaBaba” talks about how God has the power to take his people when He deems necessary, and in it people are reminded of the prudence of making preparations by repenting while time is

still ripe.
In “Ibwe Reupenyu”, Jesus Christ is said to be the rock and foundation of life whom people should follow if they want to go to heaven.

The album – being marketed and distributed by Diamond Studios – is the first release by this talented group.
Formed in December last year by Gamanya and one Mai Dinala, the group’s music is enhanced by the Midas touch of music exponents Jonathan Mgazi and Tamuka Marodza who played the rhythm guitar, keyboards, lead and bass guitars on the album.

“Our aim through music is to praise God and his son Jesus Christ as well as the Holy Spirit and remind people that this is what they should live for in life.
“That is the reason why we base most of our songs from the Bible,” Gamanya said. Born on March 28, 1981 in Murambinda, Buhera, Gamanya said his talent for music is an inborn thing as he grew up with a passion for singing.

No wonder he became a choir master in his church. “It is also our vision to use our music as a way of assisting orphans and widows,” Gamanya said.
