All set for ‘Titanic Clash’ in Chitungwiza

month-end gig will see two of Zimbabwe’s sought-after musicians sharing the stage in Macheso’s home turf at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex

Macheso’s spokesperson said the Orchestra Mberikwazvo frontman has a surprise package for fans who will attend Friday’s gig.
“There is going to be lots of new stuff from dance to music which will be part of the surprise package,” the spokesperson said.
The two music icons are not newcomers when it comes to putting up polished acts and the show has been a long time coming for many a music lover.

Mtukudzi or simply Tuku has been one of the most consistent musicians in Zimbabwe and has released 60 albums to date.
Tuku, who was appointed Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations, proved that he still has got it when he put up a five-star performance at the Heroesplush gala in Kadoma.
The Kora Award winner is currently riding high with his latest album – “Abiangu”- that has received rave reviews in the media.

Shepherd Mutamba, Tuku’s publicist, said the album was selling like hot cakes on the market and people are jostling to get a copy of it.
“The album is now available in several shops and many outlets have had to re-stock because of the overwhelming demand from the fans,” he said.

He said fans should expect a sterling performance from the musician many now describe as the granddad of Zimbabwean music. On the other hand, Macheso affectionately known as “Extrabasso” by his fans is set to continue where he left off at the Heroesplush gala, where he put a splendid performance. Macheso has shown that he is the king of sungura music in Zimbabwe by winning several awards as the best stage performer.

He has proved himself as a class act with performances that have the kept crowds at their feet every time he has taken to the stage.
Dendera prodigy, Tryson Chimbetu, will support Tuku and Macheso at the show.

The dendera musician will take revellers down memory lane belting out some of the tunes that were done by the late dendera king, Simon “Chopper” Chimbetu.
The young artiste is slowly becoming a force to reckon with in the music industry with polished up acts that have won him many followers.
