adminJOHANNESBURG. — Bidvest Wits are still waiting to see whether they can get permanent residence for two Zimbabwe internationals they hope to register as local players this season. Thomas Sweswe was registered as one of the club’s five foreigners last season after Wits signed him from Kaizer Chiefs but after five years in South Africa he now qualifies for local residency and is awaiting paperwork from the Home affairs department.
Wits will be able to register him once the paperwork comes trough.
They are also still waiting the result of their application for residency papers of fullback Onismor Bhasera, who they recently contracted for their troublesome left back position.
Having played previously at Maritzburg United and Kaizer Chiefs, Bhasera is hoping to obtain his residency papers based on the five years he held a South African work permit.
Bhasera is back in the Premier Soccer League after three seasons in England. He was out of contract after rejecting a new deal with Plymouth Argyle, who have been relegated in two of their last three seasons and are now languishing in the fourth tier of English football.
The 27-year-old Zimbabwean played in the Premier Soccer League for Maritzburg for two seasons before moving to Chiefs where he spent two seasons from 2007 to 2009. He sat out an entire campaign in 2009/10 in a dispute over his contract at AmaKhosi.— SuperSport.com
