The pop song off the 25-year-old’s 1989 album was dethroned by rapper Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” which moved up to the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on Wednesday.
Taylor’s “Bad Blood” featuring Kendrick Lamar, has been knocked down to the second position on the chart.
The country singer turned pop-star’s latest single was previously ranked 53rd, until it was catapulted to the number one spot after its star-studded music video debuted on May 17 at the Billboard Music Awards.
With appearances from Golden Globe winners, Emmy winners, an Oscar nominee, supermodels and Victoria’s Secret Angels, the hyped music video delivered a mighty lift for 1989’s fourth single.
The mouthwatering roster included legendary catwalk queen Cindy Crawford, Girls actress Lena Dunham, screen siren Jessica Alba, Oscar-nominee Hailee Steinfeld, Disney star Zendaya, Paramore rocker Haley Williams, hit-makers Ellie Goulding and Selena Gomez, and supermodels Lily Aldridge, Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne.
“Bad Blood” has only been at the peak position for one week, while Kendrick’s track has sat atop seven times non-consecutively
“Bad Blood” has so far moved 1,1 million sales to date.
Taylor’s track originally peaked as an album cut at 78 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart last year, however, the remixed version with the rapper has been far more successful in its debut last month.
Her previous singles “Shake It Off” and “Blank Spaces” reached number one on the same chart.
“Style”, the third single off “1989”, only peaked at the sixth spot on Billboard’s Hot 100.
Taylor’s “1989” – her fifth studio album – was released on October 27 last year.
The lead single off her crossover effort, “Shake It Off”, received Grammy nods for Song Of The Year, Record Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
Her follow-up single “Blank Space” spent eight weeks in the peak position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart – which tracks the success of songs weekly.
USA Today named “1989” Album Of The Year and Taylor as 2014’s Musician Of The Year.
Taylor’s album has sold 1 287 million copies in its first week of release and has earned her the title of the only artist to go platinum in 2014.
However, “Bad Blood” drop serves as yet another victory for Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again”, which is now spending its seventh non-consecutive week in the coveted top position.
The hit off the “Furious 7” soundtrack features vocals from Charlie Puth – a former YouTube star who is signed to Ellen DeGeneres’ eleveneleven record label. — Hollywoodbuzz.
