A BULAWAYO family is appealing for $500 for its daughter to undergo a computerised tomography (CT) scan to ascertain the cause of a unknown medical condition which has affected her since 2013.
Miss Rachel Phiri (19) of 645 New Luveve suburb has been suffering from an unknown ailment which the doctors could not diagnose since 2013. The ailment has been affecting her whole body and her condition has been deteriorating.
Her father, Mr Awela Phiri said his daughter has been bedridden since 2013.
“The situation is getting worse each day, my daughter started having stomach and headache problems at the age of 13 and since then we have been going to the hospital and to our surprise the doctors could not diagnose her with anything. During that time they said they wanted to do a lumber puncture,” he said.
Mr Phiri said: “At the age of 15 she stopped going to school because she could not walk or talk. Now the problem is that her ears are affected to an extent that she does not want any movement and she spends the whole day closing her ears with a pillow.”
He said they were told last week when they went to Mpilo Central Hospital that there was an urgent need for a CT scan. “The doctors told us that more than $500 was needed for her to undergo a CT scan and it should be done urgently,” he said.
Those willing to assist can call her father Mr Phiri on 0774 001 377.
