A BULAWAYO woman stunned the court yesterday when she applied for advance maintenance payment saying she did not trust her lover. Nomagugu Dlamini told magistrate Vimbai Mtukwa that she was afraid her lover Majahana Sibanda, with whom she had been cohabiting with for the past seven years, might not continue supporting her.

“Your Worship, I need $195 from him for the upkeep of our two minor children.
“This man has a tendency of evicting me from his house and has already threatened to ditch me. I want advance payment of maintenance so that in the event of him ditching me I will be cushioned,” said Dlamini.

She however, acknowledged that Sibanda was fending for the family.
“He is supporting us at the moment but I’m planning for the future of my children.”

Mtukwa dismissed Dlamini’s application saying she can only make the application when Sibanda stops supporting her and the children.
