A BULAWAYO woman has dragged her husband to the Civil Court for denying her conjugal rights for seven months. Sinokuthaba Ncube of Pumula North suburb yesterday told Magistrate Chrispen Mberewere that her husband Castro Ncube had a habit of sleeping on the floor while she slept on the bed as if they were not married.

She added that she was now living in fear for her life as Ncube always threatens to kill and chase her out of their matrimonial home.

Sinokuthaba said her husband was also in the habit of coming home late when she was already asleep to avoid being intimate with her.

“I’m married to Castro Ncube but he is physically and emotionally abusing me. We are no longer sexually active and he sleeps on the floor while I sleep on the bed. Actually it has been seven months since we last had sex,” said Sinokuthaba.

“Your Honour this man comes home at around 1AM and when he comes, he sits in the lounge and later sneaks into our bedroom. He now has a girlfriend who has a child while I’m suffering with our four children.”

Magistrate Mberewere granted Sinokuthaba an order stopping her husband from emotionally, physically and financially abusing her.

When the magistrate Mberewere asked Ncube why he was sexually starving his wife, the man said he has undergone circumcision to roaring laughter from the gallery .

“Your Honour when I got circumcised sometime in August, my wife and I both agreed that I would sleep on the floor till I healed properly.

“I slept on the floor and when I healed, she refused to have intercourse with me,” Ncube said.

He dismissed all claims against him and told magistrate Mberewere that he loved his wife and wanted to support his family.

“One day she removed her ring and threw it in the garden saying she no longer wanted me.

“Her family also threatened to get me arrested for no reason. I have never denied her anything Your Honour and I’m willing to stop sleeping on the floor,” said Ncube.
