A CHITUNGWIZA woman was on Sunday arrested for striking her 72-year-old mother in-law with a hoe leading to her death following a misunderstanding.
Miriam Nyamayegore, 31, allegedly struck Rachel Tekenende on the head at a house in Granary Phase 2B.
Miriam was sent to Murehwa last week to collect Gogo Rachel after she was reported to be not feeling well.
She took her to Granary where she was taking care of her before striking her with a hoe.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case saying Miriam is facing murder charges.
“Police arrested a woman for murder,” said Insp Chakanza.
“The accused person took a hoe and struck the now deceased once on the head and she fell to the ground.
“The now deceased sustained a deep cut on the head and was rushed to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals where she died upon admission,” said Insp Chakanza.
