Woman barred from visiting rival

A Harare woman has been granted a protection order against her husband’s ex-wife.

Vhenekai Mugoni said her husband’s ex-wife, Mercy Chaitevi, has been harassing her and calling her a prostitute.

“She visits my place of residence to insult and physically abuse me calling me a prostitute. She also visited my mother who suffers from hypertension disturbing her peace. She took away my two panties as well,” she said.

Mugoni pleaded for protection from the court saying she no longer feels safe.

“I am asking for the court to protect me because I have lost my dignity and no longer feel safe as she visits me with her friends,” she said.

In response, Chaitevi denied the accusations. “I am opposing it because she is the one who took me to her house.

“My husband has been lying that he is in the rural areas, but she told me that she is the one staying with him. When I met her, she took me to her house,” said Chaitevi.

She said she visited Mugoni’s mother after being threatened.

“She told me that her mother is a traditional healer and comes from Binga. She told me that my life is in danger in her mother’s hands,” she added.

However, magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted the protection order and ordered Chaitevi not to insult, harass or visit Mugoni’s place of residence.
