Woman bashed for denying HIV positive hubby unprotected sex

A Bulawayo woman claimed her life had become a nightmare at the hands of her abusive HIV positive husband who is constantly assaulting her with an electric cord as punishment for refusing unprotected sex.

The HIV negative wife narrated her ordeal at the Bulawayo Civil Court where she applied for a protection order.

The woman narrated how her husband physically abused her with an electric cord each time she refused to have unprotected sex with him.

a?I am applying for a protection order against my husband who is physically and sexually abusing me. He is forcing me to have unprotected sex with him despite the fact he is HIV positive.

a?I have been telling him to use condoms since he is HIV positive and I am HIV negative, but he has been assaulting me for suggesting such a preventive measure. Life has become so unbearable because when I refuse to have unprotected sex with him he assaults me with an electrical cord all over the body.

a?As if that is not enough on 28 March he chased me out of the house as punishment for refusing to bow down to his demands of having unprotected sex,a? she said.

She further told the court that by refusing to use protection her husband was putting her at the risk of contracting the virus.

The husband did not come to court leading presiding magistrate Tawanda Muchemwa to grant an order which compels him not to verbally, physically and sexually abuse his wife.
