A WOMAN lost a cellphone and US$56 after boarding a mushikashika in Marlborough.
The woman boarded the pirate taxi, a black Honda Fit, along Harare Drive, near the Standard Chartered Sports Club, at around 3pm.
When the car got to the intersection of Lomagundi Road and Sam Nujoma Street Extension, one of the occupants, who was seated in the front seat, jumped to the back seat wielding a knife.
He grabbed the woman by her neck.
He put her head between her legs and she screamed, and he stabbed her on the nose.
The robbers blindfolded her and then robbed her of cash and a cellphone.
They later dumped her in Broadlands Road in Emerald Hill.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the robbery and urged residents not to use pirate taxis.
“As police, we always appeal to members of the public not to use pirate taxis whenever they are travelling.
“We encourage them to use registered commuter omnibuses,” said Insp Chakanza.
