Woman breaks into boyfriend’s house and assaults pregnant wife, leading to miscarriage

A 22-YEAR-OLD woman from Chiwaridzo was brought before the Bindura Magistrates’ Court for unlawfully entering a home and assaulting a pregnant occupant.

A statement from the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said, that on September 9, 2024, at approximately 11PM Kudzanai Waenderwa approached the home of the complainant, a 29-year-old woman, claiming to be the girlfriend of the complainant’s husband.
She forcefully entered the complainant’s bedroom and demanded to stay the night. When the complainant asked her to leave, Waenderwa responded with violence, assaulting the pregnant woman multiple times with open hands and fists. The complainant, in fear for her safety, fled from her home. Tragically, the assault resulted in a miscarriage.

Following the incident, Waenderwa was convicted and sentenced to 3 years in prison, with 1 year suspended for 5 years. She will serve an effective 2 years behind bars for her actions.
