A WOMAN yesterday claimed her former husband kidnapped their kids and then assaulted her mother.
Helen Mutyanda told the Harare Civil Court yesterday that she has three children with her ex-husband, John Mupfawa.
She works in South Africa and the children stay at her mother’s house.
She said John was in the habit of taking the kids to Mazowe, where he stays, without her mother’s consent or knowledge.
“He goes to my mother’s house and takes the children but he has never supported them since we separated.
“He called me two months ago claiming custody of the children and telling me to maintain them while they stay with him,” said Hellen.
John opposed the application.
“I was in Mozambique two months ago and I called her to confirm our relationship status because she is my wife.
“She is lying because I supported my children who are staying with my mother-in-law,” said John.
Magistrate Sharon Mashavira advised Helen to apply for custody of the children and not a protection order.
She also advised the two to find an amicable way of resolving their issues.
