A HARARE woman took her ex-husband to the Harare Civil Court claiming $115 000 in maintenance for their child.

Samantha Mutondwa claimed that her ex-husband, Trust Mutondwa, was neglecting his child.

“I am a student and cannot afford to take care of the child alone.

“He has also refused to get a birth certificate for the child,” said Samantha.

In response, Trust said he doesn’t work and can’t afford what his ex-wife was demanding.

“My offer is $10 000, plus I have a lot of other responsibilities.

“I have been busy and have no money, that is why I have not gone to get the birth certificate,” he said.

Magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini granted Samantha $50 000 and ordered Trust to get the child a birth certificate before the end of next month.
