A 30-YEAR-OLD woman has been denied bail in a human trafficking case.

Tendai Muswe was not asked to plead when she appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi.

She will return to court today for her bail application.

The State said sometime in February, Muswe and her alleged accomplices, Hassan Mohammed Ali Al Shishh and Forward Mashonganyika, planned to traffick Tryphin Karonga, Noreen Nahuwo and Joyce Jivason.

It is alleged Muswe and her accomplices created a WhatsApp group where they advertised lucrative jobs in Dubai.

The trio deceived the victims by offering them hotel jobs yet they were sending them for purposes of free labour and sexual exploitation.

It is alleged the victims fell for the lies and agreed to go to Dubai.

Muswe then processed visas, air tickets and medical reports for all three victims.

The victims were surprised to find themselves at Muscat International Airport in Oman, instead of Dubai, and only then realised that they had been trafficked.

It is alleged that on arrival in Oman, the victims were received by Hassan, who confiscated their passports and drove them to a certain location.

They were sold as housemaids and subjected to servitude, sexual abuse and denied freedom of movement.

They, however, managed to report their ordeal to Interpol and relatives back home, who reported the matter to the police.

Investigations led to the arrest of Muswe and Mashonganyika.

The victims were located and repatriated back to Zimbabwe following the intervention of the Government.

Zebedia Bofu appeared for the State.
