Woman dies after being struck with bike crank

A 38-YEAR-OLD man from Chipinge, Manicaland Province has been charged with murder for allegedly bludgeoning a woman to death with a bicycle crank arm in her home.

In a statement on X, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) “Fanuel Ndapota (38) was arraigned before the Chipinge Magistrates’ Court on allegations of murder.

“It is the State’s case that on the 13th of August 2024 the accused person who was armed with the crank arm from an old bicycle, proceeded to the now deceased’s home where he found the now deceased resting in her blankets watching a movie on her phone. The accused person allegedly used the crank arm to strike the now deceased on the right ear. The now deceased sustained two deep wounds on the right side of the head and bled profusely until she died. The accused person allegedly took the now deceased’s mobile phone as well as the crank arm before fleeing the scene. He left behind his pink sandals and a grey dust coat.”

 

Fanuel will appear in court again on 30 August 2024, said the NPAZ.
