Woman fakes illness to get money

A man yesterday told a Harare magistrate that his wife was in the habit of faking illness on pay days to compel him to give her money for treatment which she would then convert to her own use.
Solomon Paduu claimed her wife Rosemary Chikwape physically and verbally abused him over nothing.
This was revealed at the Harare civil court where Paduu was seeking a protection order against Chikwape.

“Last month I had to sleep in the car for three weeks because she would physically assault me whenever I entered into the house.
“She insulted my mother calling her a witch in my presence but I just ignored it, now she chased me out of my house,” he said. Paduu said Chikwape’s father once came at their house in a bid to reprimand her to no avail as she became violent and insulted him.

“She doesn’t have respect for me anymore as she receives phone calls from her boyfriends during odd hours in my presence. I have endured 20-years of suffering from her abuse and I can’t take it anymore.

“She must leave my house because I no longer love her,” he said.
Chikwape refuted the allegations saying she did not chase Paduu away from their matrimonial home.

“I never chased him away from home as he is alleging,” she said.
Chikwape claimed Paduu was the one who was abusing her and the children and said she can bring the children to court to testify.

Magistrate Babra Masinire deferred the matter to tomorrow and ordered Chikwape to bring their two children aged 18 and 15 to testify.
