Woman fights neighbours over illicit affair

A Harare woman has been granted a protection order against her neighbours, who have been insulting her after she discovered that the wife was dating her husband.

Estery Masitanga took Tawanda Mungofa and his wife, Plaxedes Nhunge, to the Harare Civil Court accusing them of disturbing her peace.

She told the court that she found out that Plaxedes was having an affair with her husband and Tawanda started threatening her.

“He approached me with weapons insulting me and threatening to kill me. He also visited me with his wife and instructed her to assault me.

“The issue is that I found out that his wife was having an affair with my husband and that is why he started threatening me, saying I have tarnished his dignity,” she said.

Tawanda did not oppose the application, but disputed Estery’s version of events.

“I do not oppose the application, but what she is saying is not true. She sent me messages when I was in the rural areas saying my wife was having an affair with her husband. I did not threaten her as she is saying,” he said.

Plaxedes told the court that she was not having an affair with Estery’s husband.

“I received messages from a new number inviting me to go out for drinks and I thought it was a friend of mine.

“But I later realised that she was the one using her husband’s phone, as she later called me telling me not to disturb her marriage.

“She then told us that she was going to get a record of the calls I made to her husband and we are still waiting,” she said.

Magistrate Tamara Chibindi ordered Tawanda and Plaxedes not to insult Estery or disturb her peace.
