A WOMAN from Mabvuku lost US$2 800 in a fraudulent residential stand deal.

She has now taken the case to the Small Claims Court.

Frasia Manenji dragged Lazarus Muzachando and Rumbi Nyakurwa to court demanding a refund.

The duo, however, denied the fraud charges and claimed to have shown the woman a piece of land that she did not like.

The court heard that Manenji approached the duo after her cousin told her they were selling stands and she paid them the money.

She claimed that after numerous follow-ups, they showed her land next to a river, saying that was her stand, and she rejected it.

“My cousin, who was a tenant at Rumbi’s house, told me that Lazarus and Rumbi were selling a residential stand.

“Without thinking twice, I approached the two, and they asked me to pay US$2 800 to get the stand, which I did,” said Manenji.

“They showed me land next to a river saying it was my stand. I was not pleased with the place and demanded a refund,” said Manenji.

Manenji, Lazarus and Rumbi signed an agreement before a Commissioner of Oaths whereby Lazarus and Rumbi agreed to refund Manenji.

They, however, only refunded her US$750.

The magistrate ordered Lazarus and Rumbi to refund Manenji US$513 per month, starting this month, and warned that they would be arrested if they didn’t comply within four months.
