Woman found dead under bridge in suspected murder case

  • INANDA, Durban- Police in Inanda are investigating the gruesome murder of a woman whose body was discovered under a bridge in the Mzinyathini area on Suhday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Nosihle Yvonne Hlambisa, whose mutilated body was found by villagers who immediately alerted the police.

In a statement, police confirmed the disturbing circumstances surrounding the discovery.

“The body of a female adult, identified as Nosihle Yvonne Hlambisa, was found lying under a bridge in the Mzinyathini area next to iNanda. The body had visible signs of mutilation, including a tongue that had been cut off, and preliminary observations indicate that the deceased may have been sexually assaulted before being killed,” said the police.

Law enforcement authorities said investigations are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and to identify the perpetrators behind the brutal attack.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have information that could assist in the investigation to come forward and report to the nearest police station,” the statement added.

The death has left the Hlambisa family and the wider community in shock, with relatives struggling to come to terms with the horrific loss.

A family member, speaking on behalf of the bereaved family, described Nosihle’s death as devastating.

“This is a great loss for our family. Nosihle was a loved daughter, sister and relative, and the manner in which she died has left us heartbroken. We hope the police will bring those responsible to justice.

“She was an active member of ANC who worked closely with the local councillor, helping the community so everyone is crying about what happened with Nosihle,” said the relative.

Community members have expressed outrage over the killing, calling for swift justice and increased protection for women in the area.

Police investigations continue.
