The gang also made off with property and a car. One of the alleged suspects Jacob Sibanda (24) yesterday pleaded not guilty to rape, theft and five counts of unlawful entry when he appeared before regional magistrate Never Katiyo. Mr Katiyo remanded him in custody to August 25.

Prosecutor Editor Mavuto alleges that on June 11 this year at around 4am, Sibanda with his alleged accomplices Taurai Manyowa and Peter Kawaza, who are still at large went to the woman’s house. They broke into the house after forcing open a kitchen door and they allegedly stole her pellet gun and went to her bedroom.
The gang, it is alleged, ordered the woman to lie on the bed at gunpoint and took turns to rape her. They allegedly drove away in her boyfriend’s car which was parked at her house. Police arrested Sibanda on August 11 following a tip off.

Sibanda is also alleged to have taken part in armed robberies in which goods worth $4 800 were stolen in Chisipite, Glen Lorne and Greystone Park between May and June this year.
The stolen property includes laptops, cell phones and borehole pumps among a consortium of goods.
